I love including holiday fun in my curriculum every chance I can. So far this year we have worked on nouns and verbs in my class. Many are already claiming it’s “spooky season” so why not prepare for the coming holiday with this fun Halloween Grammar Sort? All of the words to be sorted are Halloween themed/inspired for added fun and vocabulary building!
What I love about grammar sorts like this are they are completely customizable! I’ve included nouns, verbs, and adjectives into this Halloween Grammar Sort, but you can choose which categories you want your students to sort. For example, we have only covers nouns and verbs so we will only sort those words. There are four different recording sheets available depending on which way you would prefer your students to sort.
You can also use the word cards to have students write sentences. You might have them pick a random word (or two, or three) from a mixed up deck or you might have them choose from the categories. If I chose a random noun, verb, and adjective an example sentence might be, “I screamed when I saw a creepy zombie!” Just as I underlined the noun, verb, and adjective, you could have your students do the same. You could even have them color code it -> Underline the noun in blue, the verb in red, and the adjective in purple.
If you love what you see and you want this for your students you can get my Halloween Grammar Sort for Nouns, Verbs, and Adjectives here.
